Delete your Dartzo account and data

How to delete your account and everything stored with it, what disconnecting Instagram does instead, and what to do before you go.

Updated

You can leave Dartzo at any time and take your data with you, or rather, have it removed. There are three different things people mean by “delete”, and they do very different things. Picking the right one matters, because the biggest one can’t be undone.

You want to…UseYour login, plan and billing
Stop one Instagram account from working with DartzoDisconnect on the Connections pageStay
Remove Dartzo’s access from Instagram’s sideRemove Dartzo in Instagram’s own settingsStay
Remove everything: login, data, all accountsDelete my accountRemoved

Before you delete

  1. Know what happens to your plan
A plan you pay for on the website is cancelled the moment you delete, so you’re never charged again; the unused part of the period isn’t refunded. If Dartzo can’t reach the payment provider to cancel it, nothing is deleted and you’re asked to try again. A plan billed through Google Play or the App Store has to be cancelled in your phone’s subscription settings, because Dartzo can’t cancel a store plan for you.
  2. Save what you want to keep
Once the account is deleted, your leads, automations and history are gone and can’t be recovered. If your plan includes it, press Export CSV on the Leads page to download your captured contacts. Your billing history inside Dartzo goes with the account; your tax invoices stay available from Dodo Payments’ emails and customer portal.
  3. Know about your referral balance
If you’re in the referral program, any balance is removed when your account is deleted. Free days you’ve already received on your plan end with the account.

Delete your account on the web

  1. Open Settings
Click Settings in the sidebar and scroll to the bottom to the card called Data & danger zone.
  2. Click Delete my account
The card explains that this permanently deletes your account and every comment, lead, delivery record and stored token we hold.
  3. Type DELETE
To make it hard to do by accident, a box asks you to type DELETE. The Permanently delete button stays disabled until you have. Cancel closes it without doing anything.
  4. Click Permanently delete
The deletion runs immediately, you’re signed out, and you land on the Dartzo home page.
This can’t be undone
There is no recovery period and no undo. If you only want to stop automations running for a while, pause them instead.

Delete your account in the phone app

In the app, open Settings and tap Delete account. A confirmation asks “Delete your account?” and says your automations, sent DMs and captured leads go with it and that it can’t be undone. Tap Delete. The app shows “Deleting your account…” and then “Your account is deleted.” If something goes wrong, it tells you and does not sign you out, so you never think it worked when it didn’t. You can finish on the web instead.

What gets deleted

  • Your connected Instagram accounts, and the stored access token for each. Dartzo can no longer act on them.
  • Your automations, with their keywords, templates and settings.
  • Delivery records: the record of each comment, DM and its status.
  • Your captured contacts and leads.
  • Your login and profile: name, email and authentication records.
  • Your billing history inside Dartzo and any referral balance.

The Instagram-side data that Dartzo received through Meta’s APIs is covered by this too. Our public Data Deletion page describes the same process, and it’s the page Meta requires us to publish.

What is kept, and what we can’t delete

  • Copies in backups are purged on our regular backup rotation. Per the Data Deletion page, remaining account data is permanently deleted within 30 days of your request.
  • Minimal records the law requires, such as billing and tax records, may be kept longer. The Data Deletion page says so, and the Privacy Policy has the detail.
  • Things outside Dartzo. Your Instagram account, your posts and comments, and DMs already delivered to your fans stay exactly as they are. They live on Instagram, and a message a fan received stays in their inbox. Your payment provider and any app store keep their own records of payments under their own rules.

Disconnecting Instagram is not the same as deleting

On the Connections page (under Settings), each connected Instagram account has a Disconnect button. It’s a smaller step, with a real consequence: it deletes that account together with its automations and delivery records, and drops the stored access token immediately. Your Dartzo login, your plan and your billing stay, so you can connect again later. But the automations that were on it do not come back.

Disconnect is not a pause
If you only want automations to stop for a while, pause them instead of disconnecting. Disconnecting removes them. To start over, see Connect Instagram.

Remove Dartzo from inside Instagram

You can also remove Dartzo from Instagram’s side: in Instagram, go to Settings → Apps and websites and remove Dartzo. That revokes our access. Instagram’s owner, Meta, then notifies us, and we automatically delete the connected account, its automations and its token. Your Dartzo login and plan stay, so it’s the same effect as Disconnect, started from Instagram.

Ask us to do it

If you can’t get into your account, email contact@dartzo.com from the address on your account, with the subject “Data deletion request”. If you can’t send from that address, include enough to identify the account. We’ll confirm and complete the deletion.

Common questions

Does deleting my account cancel my subscription?
Yes, for a plan you pay for on the website: it’s cancelled straight away, and the unused days aren’t refunded. If the cancel can’t be confirmed, your account isn’t deleted. A plan bought through the App Store or Google Play must be cancelled in your phone’s subscription settings.
Can I get my account back after deleting it?
No. Deletion is permanent and immediate, and there’s no recovery period. You can sign up again later, but your automations, leads and history won’t return.
What’s the difference between Disconnect and Delete my account?
Disconnect removes one Instagram account, along with its automations and delivery records, but keeps your login, plan and billing. Delete my account removes everything: your login, all connected accounts, automations, contacts and delivery records.
Will my fans lose the DMs they already received?
No. Messages already delivered stay in their Instagram inbox. Deleting your Dartzo account removes your records of them and stops any more from being sent.
I don’t use the app any more. How do I remove its access to my Instagram?
Either press Disconnect on the Connections page, or remove Dartzo in Instagram under Settings, then Apps and websites. Either way the stored access token is deleted.
