Billing, invoices, upgrading and cancelling
Updated
Everything about paying for Dartzo happens on one page: Billing in the sidebar, titled Plan & billing. It shows your current plan, how much of your limits you’re using, your payment history and your invoices. This page walks through each part. To compare plans first, see Plans and features; for what each costs, see the pricing page.
How paying works
Plans bought on the web are paid through Dodo Payments, our payment provider. Prices are tax-inclusive: the total you see at checkout already contains any tax, so nothing is added at the end. Prices themselves live with Dodo and on the pricing page, which is why you won’t find a rupee figure on this page. In India you pay in rupees. If your billing country is elsewhere, the checkout shows the price in your own currency, with that country’s tax.
Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel. The checkout says so in plain words: “Renews at … every … until you cancel.” There’s a monthly, quarterly or yearly option depending on what’s on sale, and the longer periods cost less per month.
Buy a plan
- Open Billing and click Upgrade planClick Billing in the sidebar, then Upgrade plan on the current-plan card. You’ll see the plans above yours, each with a Go Pro, Go Max or Go Ultra button. If you’re eligible for the free trial, each card also offers Try free for 14 days. See Plans and features.
- Check the summaryFill in Billed to (your full name; a phone number is optional) and your Billing country, which sets your currency and the tax on your invoice. The Billing address is optional, and anything you skip is asked for on the payment page. The right-hand card shows your plan, the Total due today · incl. tax, how often it renews and when you’ll be billed next.
- Pay & UpgradePress Pay & Upgrade. You’re taken to Dodo’s secure payment page, where you choose how to pay. For India that includes UPI, cards and net banking. Card details are entered on Dodo’s page, not on Dartzo’s.
- Come back to BillingWhen you return, a banner reads Payment received — your plan is active, or Payment is processing if the bank is still confirming. Your plan switches on when the payment is confirmed, not when you land back on the page, so there’s nothing else to do. If you see “Processing”, give it a few minutes.
Your billing history and invoices
At the bottom of the Billing page, Billing history lists every money event on your account, newest first. Rows are written when the payment provider confirms them, not by the browser, and they’re never edited afterwards. You’ll see:
| Row | Status | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Plan activated | Paid | Your first payment for a plan. |
| Plan renewed | Paid | A renewal payment went through. |
| Failed payment attempt | Failed | A payment didn’t go through. |
| Renewal payment failed | Action needed | A renewal didn’t go through. See below. |
| Refund | Refunded | Money returned to you. |
| Plan cancelled | Cancelled | You cancelled; see the next section. |
Website payments are processed by Dodo Payments, our Merchant of Record. That makes Dodo the seller of the payment, so Dodo issues the tax invoice, with GST worked out for where you are. After each payment Dodo emails you a confirmation with a link to the payment in its customer portal, where you can download the full tax invoice PDF. In your Billing history these rows say Invoice from Dodo Payments, by email. Dartzo doesn’t issue a second invoice for the same payment.
If a row has no figure, it means we couldn’t read an amount in rupees for that payment, so you’ll see a dash rather than a made-up zero.
Cancel a plan
You can cancel any time, without contacting anyone. Cancelling never ends your plan on the spot: you keep everything you’ve paid for until the end of the current period.
- Click Cancel planOn the current-plan card on Billing, click Cancel plan (a small link under the plan details).
- ConfirmRead the message, which says when your access ends, and click Yes, cancel at period end. Or click Keep my plan to back out.
- Check the cardThe plan card now shows Ends with the date, and “you keep full access until then, and won’t be charged again. After that you move to the free plan.” We also email you a confirmation.
Changed your mind before the date? The same card shows Resume plan, which undoes the cancellation while the period is still running.
Cancelling stops the renewal at the payment provider first and only then marks your plan as ending, so you can’t be told it’s cancelled while a charge is still on its way. If cancelling fails, you’ll see an error and nothing is changed. Try again, or contact us.
Moving to a lower plan
The Upgrade dialog only offers plans above yours, so there’s no button for “switch to a cheaper paid plan”. In practice you cancel the plan you have, keep it until the period ends, and choose the lower plan when you’re back on Free. Contact us if you’d like help. Nothing you built is deleted on the way down. See “When you move to a lower plan” in Plans and features for exactly what keeps working.
If a payment fails
If a renewal doesn’t go through, the Billing page says: “Your last payment failed — update your payment method to keep your plan active.” The row appears in your history as Renewal payment failed, and if you use the phone app you’re also sent a notification (see Notifications). Until the payment succeeds your plan is not treated as active, so paid features can switch off and the account returns to Free behaviour. Write to contact@dartzo.com if you need help fixing it. Your automations and data stay.
If you subscribed in the phone app
One plan has one biller. If your plan was bought through Google Play or the App Store, the Billing page says “Billed through …” and there’s no cancel button, because Dartzo can’t stop a store from renewing it. Change or cancel it in your phone’s subscription settings. A website checkout on top of a store plan is refused, so you can’t be billed twice for the same months.
