Dartzo vs ManyChat for Instagram comment-to-DM
Both tools can turn a comment on your Instagram post into a DM. Past that, they're built for different questions. ManyChat asks "how many contacts are you managing, across how many channels?" and prices accordingly. Dartzo asks "did the message actually send, and if not, why?" — that's the whole product.
Side by side
| ManyChat | Dartzo | |
|---|---|---|
| Platforms | Instagram, TikTok, Facebook Messenger, Telegram on every plan; WhatsApp, SMS and Email from Pro up (manychat.com/pricing, read 2026-09-17) | Instagram only — professional/business or creator account. No Facebook, no WhatsApp. |
| Pricing model | Priced by Active Contacts per month (people you've messaged in the last 30 days), not by message volume. Free: 25 contacts. Essential $17/mo (250 contacts). Pro $39/mo (2,500 contacts, 3 channels, AI conversations). Overage billed per additional contact once you're over your plan's limit (manychat.com/pricing, read 2026-09-17) | Free, Pro, Max, Ultra. See [/pricing](/pricing) for current INR rates — this page never quotes a number that can drift out of sync with checkout. |
| Currency & tax | Priced in USD; the pricing page states final price is "determined by the user's billing country," with no INR or GST line stated (manychat.com/pricing, read 2026-09-17) | Billed in INR — UPI, cards, or net-banking — with a GST invoice. |
| Comment → DM | "Reply to comments" and "reply to DMs" are listed as automatic capabilities, with keyword-triggered lead capture pulling emails and numbers from the DM (manychat.com/product/instagram, read 2026-09-17) | Comment on a post/Reel, a Live comment, a story reply, a story mention, or a DM keyword — each with its own keyword + exclude-keyword matching. |
| New-follower DM | "Automatically DM new followers" is a named automation (manychat.com/product/instagram, read 2026-09-17) | Not a Dartzo trigger today — Dartzo's triggers are comment, Live comment, story reply, story mention, and DM keyword. |
| Follow gate | ManyChat's Instagram page shows a "secret link available only for followers" as a use case built with its flow builder, not as a named toggle (manychat.com/product/instagram, read 2026-09-17) | A built-in follow-to-unlock gate and a softer ask-to-follow — configured per automation, no flow-building required. |
| If Instagram won't accept the send right now | Not stated on the pricing or product pages we read. | Queued, never dropped — sent the instant Meta allows, with Meta's own reply windows respected. |
| What you can see happened to one message | Not stated on the pages we read — no delivery-log or per-message-outcome claim appears on the Instagram product page. | An explicit outcome and reason for every message in the delivery log — sent, queued, expired, or failed with a reason, never silent. |
| AI | "Manychat AI" is a separate product tier that can "help build flows for you" (manychat.com/product/instagram, read 2026-09-17) | AI replies answer unmatched DMs from your own FAQs. Every plan gets monthly AI credits, including Free; bring your own OpenAI/Anthropic-compatible key on Pro and above. |
| Lead capture | DM keyword capture of emails and numbers is available (manychat.com/product/instagram, read 2026-09-17) | In-thread email capture with CSV export — Pro and above. |
| Broadcasts | Included as part of the Pro tier and above (manychat.com/pricing, read 2026-09-17) | Broadcasts to opted-in fans and a link-in-bio page — Pro and above. |
Why this matters if you're Instagram-only
If Instagram is the only channel you run automations on, a lot of what ManyChat charges for — three, five, or unlimited channels; contacts across TikTok and WhatsApp — isn't a discount you can claim. You're paying contact-volume pricing built for a multi-channel business on a single-channel use case. Dartzo starts from the other direction: Instagram only, so every plan and every feature is built around what Instagram's Graph API actually allows, not what's common across five different messaging APIs.
The honesty difference is the bigger one. Instagram's own private-reply API allows exactly one reply per comment, ever, and Meta's reply windows close — 24 hours for a story reply, roughly 7 days for a post comment. A tool that doesn't tell you when a send hit that wall, or why a message queued instead of sending, leaves you assuming delivery that may not have happened. Dartzo's delivery log exists because "it probably sent" isn't good enough when the message was a paying customer's discount code.
